Reed Flute Cave    Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

The Reed Flute Cave is a nice bike ride northwest of the city. This cave actually houses some of the most beautiful scenery in Guilin - but it's underground! The cave got its name from the clumps of reeds used to make musical instruments that were placed to mark the entrance. The inside of the cave is covered with stalactites and stalagmites that are illuminated with colored lights. The impressive Crystal Palace of the Dragon King can hold about 1,000 people and held more when it was used as an air-raid shelter.
