China -> Shenyang -> Imperial Palace Imperial Palace Shenyang, Liaoning Province The Imperial Palace was where the Qing dynasty was inaugurated in 1636 and was built with the Forbidden City in mind. Strong similarities exist between the two despite the palace's Manchu style. The building is laid out on a north-south axis with several halls displaying ceramics, weapons, and jade. Some of these items were used in the shamanistic rites that made up the Manchu belief system. |
