Tiger Hill    Suzhou, Jiangsu Province

Tiger Hill is an artificial hill that serves as the burial ground for He Lu, the King of the state of Wu and the founder of Suzhou who died in the 6th century. Many myths surround his grave including one that he is buried with 3,000 swords and is guarded by a white tiger. Atop the mound is Yunyan Pagoda, built in the 10th century. It is an example of Chinese innovative architecture for the time because it is made entirely of brick in an octagonal, seven-story pattern. About 400 years ago, the pagoda started tilting and now the top sits more than 2m from its original position.
