China -> Xi'an -> Shaanxi Museum of History Shaanxi Museum of History Xi'an, Shaanxi Province The Shaanxi Museum of History is a great place to get an up close look at the life-size terra-cotta soldiers and horses from the tomb of Qinshi Huangdi. Of the thousands of warriors excavated, no two have the same face. You can see how the warrior's hands and heads were constructed and connected to their bodies, as well as how the horses were made. The details on the warriors and horses are simply astounding. Other collections in the museum include pottery from other dynasties in addition to bronze pieces from the Shang dynasty that show how advanced Chinese metalwork was for its time. |
